There's a general view prevailing among the foreigners that Indians rarely speak truth. In other words, Indians, generally are truth-proof is what they believe in.Indians do not mean what they say!Is that view correct?
Well,if you ask any Indian about this,he will promptly deny it with all vehemence . He would say foreigners are always biased against Indians! But,the accused denying the accusation never closes the matter.
I thought, why not I check it out myself. I posed a few questions to a few well-informed intellectual Indians and sought their answers to my questions. Here are the questions asked and the answers generally given. It's for you to find out whether the answers given are patently true or not. Then your inference on this question becomes easier than you think.
- Hindi is India's national language —Yes ( even India's home minister says so, PM goes around the world projecting Hindi as India's national language )
- Untouchability is rampant across India —No(GOI officially denied it in International Durban conference on racial discrimination, NRI Indians in US denied flatly in CISCO investigations )
- Sanskrit is a language -Yes.GOI confirms ( linguists ask how can there be a mother tongue that's not allowed to be spoken by mother?)
- Secular means 'not related to religion' -No, secular means relating to all regions!( can you stretch your interpretation to mean black as white?)
- Hinduism is the majority religion in India -Yes ( actually there is no religion called Hinduism, says the experts )
- Hatred among the members is the basis of caste system —Denied ( everyone knows the truth )
- Athiti devo bhavo -Guest is like God —Yes ( in fact no guest is welcome unless he belongs to the same caste as the host )
- Tamilians are the original sons of the soil -Denied
- Tamil is the oldest language of India/World -Denied
- Yoga is a Tamil art-Denied
- BJP is anti-Muslim,anti-Christian-Denied
- Many more like this
Actually India runs not on facts but on projected images and impressions.Beliefs and myths ,mostly over rule facts in India.
Is lying an essential element of Indian culture? Do Indian gods lie? Do Indian proverbs support lying? Is India a land-of -lies?
Incidentally ,India happens to be the only country in the world where none ever admits to his guilt in judicial proceedings. While every accused in India invariably denies the charges, around 18% of the accused in the Western countries admit to the charges leveled and accept the punishment happily.
While lying is a patent sin in Western religions, it is quite common in Indian culture and mythology.’ Tell 1000 lies but get married ‘ is a popular Tamil saying. Here's what Chanakya, the Aryan Indian role model of wisdom says about lies :
But,What does Bible say about lies?
100 verses are there in the Bible that speaks against lies.
However all the foregoing gets annulled by the fact that all Indians believe in the following slogan :
So,the truth will ultimately triumph and foreigner’s views on Indians in this matter will be neutralised.
After all,India is not a Land-of-Lies as propagated by foreigners!
